Oudopanda & Tefuawe Story

Oudopanda & Tefuawe Story
I have been in the welding industry since 1996, working for a company responsible for testing and developing welding products.
Thanks to globalization and the surge in demand for infrastructure, the welding industry has been in a phase of rapid development. As a worker in the front-end of welding product research, I deeply feel the great significance of my work.
I have several good welder friends, they are experienced welders over 20 years. However, when they were young, due to the use of welding lenses that did not meet safety and protection standards and poor quality, they felt that their eyesight had significantly deteriorated, and their ability to distinguish colors was not as good as it used to be. When carrying out welding work, their eyes would feel stinging, with obvious foreign body sensation and involuntary tears.
Low-quality and shoddy products are really hateful, damaging the health of the welder and not helping the completion of welding work in any positive way!
Since then, I developed the idea of making my own colored passive lens, taking into account the special requirements of some color-blind welders, so that everyone could buy the right color for his personal preference.
2*4" Passive lens has many countless advantages!
-Wide range of use, suitable for all Tiger hoods and Pancakes, suitable for all welding methods.
-Easy to use, no need to make any adjustments after installation. When you need to change the color or shade number, just simply change the filter.
-No batteries required, you never need to stop and disrupt your work because of a dead battery.
-Passive lens usually provides superior optical clarity without affecting your eyesight, you can focus on your welding job for a long time and improve the quality of your work.
-Comfort and durability, if you don't lose or damage your lens, it usually lasts very long time.
During my market research I found the brand “Tefuawe”, “Team For Awesome”, “The World's No.1 Hand Gesture Lens”. Through their website and social media campaigns, I learned about their unique positioning of their products and attention to detail, which coincided with what I wanted to do, and I was eager to talk to this great brand!
On that night, I sent the first email to Tefuawe, our story began.

Hi Tefuawe Team,
I can't be more excited to write you this e-mail, now is 1:02 midnight at Huston.
During my 26-year career in welding product development, I have participated in a lot of awesome projects. From the design of the overall shape of the hood to the details of the card slot of a plastic press frame, my team and I keep coming up with one amazing idea after another, and everything is workable!
Now I 'm gonna do some special things in this welding market, I believe it would be fire! I am very impressed by your brand concept and product innovation, want to cooperate with you for this project.
Your reply would be appreciated!
Soon I received a reply from Tefuawe:

Hi William,
Amazing!
We're very interested in your idea and we definitely like to set up a time to talk about it! Are you free this Thursday at 3pm, maybe we can talk about the details on the phone first!
“I'm a perfectionist.”
Someone know me for a long time can't help say that, “William, you're a perfectionist always!"
Yes, I am, and I'm proud to be able to apply that trait to the product.
Colored passive lens is a relatively simple structure, so how can I make it special? How can I make it great? I often think about this question.
In this regard, AO safetly has done the best and become a top supplier of safety glasses in the minds of many veteran welders. They used to make a passive lens called “Cool Blue” that had extraordinary properties. Peering through them while welding revealed an almost mythical clarity that transformed the welding experience. Unfortunately, this lens was eventually discontinued in 1990 for commercial reasons, due to the huge cost of the specialized cobalt glass material that was required to be used in the lens at that time. Its scarcity drove up its value, with functional parts costing as much as four or five hundred dollars.
This gave me an even bolder idea - to create a “cool blue” alternative, and to innovate the details of the product to provide welders with the widest range of color choices.
For Oudopanda colored passive lens, I started with these four components.
Appearance: upgraded grinding edge technology, durable and fashion.
Apple's phones are our inspiration. Apple's insistence on continuous curves has resulted in a shape known in design circles as the “squirrel”: the slope starts faster, but is less steep.
One advantage of hardware products that don't have sudden changes in curvature is that they produce softer highlights (i.e., little or no jumps in light reflection along the corners) and feel better when stroked. International companies that focus on the details of their products in this way are the ones we learn from.
In order to achieve this level of aesthetics on oudopanda passive lens, we need to coat a larger piece of glass during the lens making process, and then cut it afterward, which adds extra cost to us. But it's all worth it to bring you a more fashion and innovative product.
-Sharp edges and corners are ground off to prevent people from being scratched when picking up the product.
-Small cracks and microcracks formed on the edge of the original glass due to cutting are ground away, eliminating localized stress concentrations and increasing the strength of the glass.
-The geometric tolerance of the glass after edge grinding meets the requirements, and we adopt the edge grinding parameters, which are the most practical and beautiful.
Color: The most complete color selection
Every welder, every user who needs to melt and splice metal together has his or her own preference for welding color. I spent almost a year researching the 7 most popular and frequently used colors. (Still expanding). You can get the full range of colored passive lens from us without having to spend extra time searching.
If you don't find your favorite color, welcome to contact us via email for more communication and turn your idea into reality!
Welding effect: Ultra-clear welding contrast, see all the details!
The welding effect of passive lens is closely related to its optical properties. Every time we need to purchase at least 20,000 pieces of customized color passive lens for strict screening test, the elimination rate reaches 20%. By testing parameters such as optical refractive index dispersion coefficient, X-ray resistance, visible refractive index precision test, intra-spectral transmittance ratio, ultraviolet refractive index, infrared refractive index, optical homogeneity, refractive index temperature mind, stress birefringence and so on, we can determine whether the raw material of this passive lens is up to the standard or not.
Oudopanda's lenses are required to meet the optical standard of 1/1/1/1, which means that in the first round of raw material screening, more than 4,000 pieces of passive lens are eliminated on average because they fail to meet our requirements.
Price: Oudopanda's product pricing
There is a common thought in most people's mind: cheap is not good, good is not cheap!
The emergence of the Oudopanda brand will gradually change this idea.
Compared with the colored passive lens on the market, our lens price is on the low side, and compared with other brands of passive lens welding effect, product details, as well as after-sales service, what we lack is only popularity. (Welcome to test and compare, once the video is chosen, you will have the opportunity to join Oudoopanda's latest product internal testing program and become our collaborator) Sadly, consumers have even gotten used to the high selling price of branded passive lens, and you can even use this money to buy a welding helmet or a premium auto-darkening lens!
Some of you may be thinking in the mind when you order “Why are they so cheap, will they provide poor quality that they will break within a few days after use?” “Are they a real brand, they don't look like they have a lot of fans, will I get ripped off?”.
Let's talk about the pricing of Oudopanda passive lens for a moment. Considering that our customers are diverse professionals, hobbyists, diyers, artists, kids learning to solder for the first time, within a limited scope, we want to offer them as affordable, relatively cheap, and cost-effective products as possible. One of the reasons passive lens is so popular is because it's relatively inexpensive, and if you spend more than $100 on it, it would be a shame to lose it or accidentally damage it. We don't want you to feel that way.
We just started our business last year and we are 100% real, lens developed and designed in the USA and manufacture in China. The product and time will tell, and if you have any additional questions, we'll take care of answering anything you're curious about.
Our partner Tefuawe helped us a lot in this process and gave us a lot of very practical advice that made us go through detours.
On his recommendation, we purchased more sophisticated and high-end testing instruments to better control the quality of our products (even though they are very expensive!). In order to control more details, I started to learn to write software programs, through the chromatography scanning and computer measurement of the final product standards.
A lot people ask us about True Color return inventory and the also for popular colors like Purple Navy, Lake Michigan and Magenta are actually related to the chromatography writing program we are currently working on, even though it takes much longer time and effort. At the same time, as we continue to collect real feedback from our customers, our production requirements will only get stricter to ensure that our quality tends to be stable.
On Oudopanda's official website, you will see our lens story blog, which is exactly what we specialize in, as we are a R&D-Design-Production brand, and it allows our customers to know more about what kind of products they are buying, from raw materials to the final product. This is a great idea that from Tefuawe, and I think we're definitely going to carry on with this worthwhile endeavor.
In terms of marketing, Tefuawe recommended that we work with professional welders, welding product testing experts, and frontline workers in different countries and types of work. On the Oudopanda homepage you will find the “Affiliates” button, if you have used an Oudopanda product and think it's great, worth the money and have a lot of welding experience then you are welcome to contact us for further collaboration. Believe us, it will be a win-win situation.
By helping and cooperating with each other, we strengthen our relationship and it means a lot to both of our brands.
In the near future, Oudopanda will be joining forces with Tefuawe to launch a new product in multiple colors, stay tuned and see you soon!
